Harvey "Harv" Wayne Stroud

Harvey “Harv” Wayne Stroud, age 73, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Northwest Health in La Porte, with his loving wife by his side, holding him in her arms.

Harv was born on August 24, 1951, in Mullins, South Carolina, to the late Robert Harvey and Eunice Hilda (Tompkins) Stroud. His father, an ironworker, often moved the family across the country for work, sometimes to such remote towns that Harv attended classic one-room schoolhouses. Harv graduated from Elston High School in Michigan City, Indiana, in 1969.

Right after High School, Harv enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, proudly serving his country in Okinawa, Japan. Following his military service, he pursued higher education at Purdue University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.

Harv led a colorful and adventurous life, with a series of exciting careers. He was a skilled pool shark, a talented glass blower, and ultimately found his true calling as an ironworker. His work took him around the world, living up to his description of himself as a self-proclaimed Nomad.

That journey changed course in 2005 when he met the love of his life, Janice Hoyle. From that moment on, he happily traded in his nomadic lifestyle to build a life with her. Harv and Janice were married on June 17, 2013.

After an injury ended his career as an Ironworker with Local Union 395, Harv rediscovered his love of travel—this time with Janice and their beloved dog Spuddy by his side. Together, they explored the country in their teardrop camper, creating lasting memories as devoted partners in both love and adventure. When they weren’t on the road, they enjoyed long walks together along the many scenic trails near their home in La Porte, Indiana.

Harv was a man of many passions. An avid reader, he loved to read Dick Francis and was seldom seen without a book. Known for his sharp appearance, he had a deep appreciation for fine clothing—particularly his fedoras, flat caps, cashmere jackets, custom-made shoes, and his favorite pin-feather cowboy boots. He also loved to drive—especially his Porsche—strictly within the speed limit, “of course”.

Harv approached everything he did with a deep sense of precision and pride. He loved sharing his craftsmanship with others, once teaching his stepson Jared how to install drywall flawlessly, “of course”. When building a fence in his backyard, he meticulously measured each post to ensure perfect alignment and spacing—a true reflection of his belief that every job deserved to be done right.

Harv is survived by his devoted wife Janice Stroud; his step children, Janine C. Worachek of Lakeland, Florida, Jacob J. (Courtney) Roshanmanesh, MD of Madison, Mississippi, Jared A.(Jessica Lee, PHD) Roshanmanesh, C.P.A. of Fishers, Indiana; grandchildren, Aiden, Olivia, Elizabeth, Nolan, Winston, and Stella; siblings, Ralph Douglas Stroud, Larry Michael Stroud, Jeffery Craig Stroud, Mary Lenore Stroud, and Ronald Pifer; his in-laws, Robert (Barbara) Hoyle, Shirley (Rick) Novak; and his beloved dog, Heidi. Harv was preceded in death by his parents and his dog, Spuddy.

Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.

A Service will be at 11 AM Tuesday in the Funeral Home following the visitation.

Przemek was graced with the wisdom and affection of his maternal grandmother, Kazimiera Majka, and his paternal grandfather, Edward Kubas, both of Poland. His uncle, Witold Majka, and aunt, Dorota Kubas, along with cousins Kamil and Adrian, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in La Porte and Poland, also survive him. Przemek's loving nature extended to his girlfriend, Megan Williams, and her children, Stryker, Mason, and River, whom he embraced as his own family.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Leslaw Majka, and his paternal grandmother, Maria Kubas, whose memories he held close to his heart.

Przemek's education was completed in high school, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Kubas Express, a transportation company that became a testament to his hard work and dedication. Before this, he was employed with IMW, Industrial Maintenance and Welding, in Kingsbury, where he was respected for his skill and strong work ethic. Przemek's contributions to his work and community were deeply valued, and his loss will be felt by many.

A man of faith, Przemek lived his Christian beliefs through his actions, showing love and care to everyone around him. His membership in the Northwest Indiana Riders Motorcycle Club was a source of joy and camaraderie. Przemek's passion for motorcycles and cars was more than a hobby; it was a way for him to connect with others, share experiences, and create lasting memories.

Przemek's character was the epitome of kindness. To say he was selfless is an understatement; he lived for others, always putting their needs before his own. His loving nature was his hallmark, and those who were fortunate enough to experience it will forever treasure the warmth he brought into their lives. He was the kind of person who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he met, and his absence will be profoundly felt.

Christina Lynn Mrozinski, a vibrant soul who loved fiercely and lived life to the fullest, passed away on July 2, 2025, at her residence. Born on March 13, 1968, in La Porte, Indiana, Christina brought joy, laughter, and love to everyone who knew her.

Christina was devoted above all to her beloved daughter, Brittany Epley, who was the light of her life. Her love was powerful and unconditional-she loved hard and without reservation. Christina was equally dedicated to her mother, Helga Brennan, honoring their special bond throughout her life.

A free spirit with a passion for rock and roll music, Christina was the life of the party. She loved to get dressed up and “dialed-up” (as she loved to say) for a night on the town. She loved to have fun and surround herself with friends, creating memories filled with laughter and good times. If the music wasn’t loud, you weren’t partying like “Chrissy Vicious.”

Christina also had a unique aesthetic that reflected her bold personality. As a homemaker, Christina found satisfaction in creating a warm, welcoming environment for those she loved. She loved decorating her home with owls and skulls, creating a space that was distinctively hers. She loved shoes, purses, and dressing up. She was a great listener, always making time for others and providing both comfort and laughter when needed.

Christina is survived by her devoted and only daughter, Brittany Epley; her father, James Mrozinski Sr.; her oldest brother, James Mrozinski Jr.; her half-brother, Dan Mrozinski; and her half-sister, Toni Mrozinski. She also leaves behind her treasured best friends, Shawna Coffee, Kim Avery, and Jody Lynn Lopez (Roberts), who shared in her laughter, adventures, and unwavering friendship. She loved her extended family, even in the times when they were distant or far away. She loved her local LaPorte Polish community.

She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Helga Brennan (Siebel), and her baby brother Jerry Mrozinski, both to whom she was utterly devoted and loved more than life itself. Christina lived life on her terms, with passion, loyalty, and an infectious zest for fun. Her legacy lives on through the hearts of those she touched, especially her daughter Brittany, who carries forward her mother's capacity for deep love and authentic living. Christina's spirit-bold, loving, and unapologetically herself-will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Betty J. Hooten, a cherished matriarch, left this world on July 1, 2025, at the serene Miller's Manor in New Carlisle, Indiana. Born a simple country girl on June 5, 1934, in La Porte, Indiana, she embodied warmth and kindness throughout her life, her spirit interwoven with the fabric of those who loved her dearly.

A dedicated member of the United Methodist Church of New Carlisle, Betty found joy in faith and community, nurturing friendships that would last a lifetime. She was not merely an attendee, but an active participant, her heart entangled in the devotion and fellowship that blossomed within those walls. Her passion for cooking was renowned, culminating in the publication of her own cookbook—an enchanting collection of recipes flavored with love and tradition. Betty's kitchen was a haven, often filled with the tantalizing aromas of her culinary creations, where family and friends gathered to share meals, laughter, and stories.

Betty's devotion as a grandmother was profound; she embraced the role of raising her beloved grandson, Schuyler, from the tender age of six months. Their bond was a testament to her nurturing spirit, etched in the smiles they shared and the memories they crafted together. Family was her heartbeat, a circle of support and affection encompassing her, including her sons, Edwin Hooten Jr. and Corey Hooten, and her sister, Nancy Ashcraft, who stood by her side through the seasons of life.
