Eleanor M. Knight, April 23, 1938 -July 21, 2025.

Eleanor M Knight, 87, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Monday, July 21, 2025, at Ignite Medical Resort, Chesterton, IN.

She was born April 23, 1938, in Providence, Rhode Island, the daughter of Joseph and Lucy Ann (Sandbergen) Bacon.

Eleanor graduated from high school with the honor society and went on to receive her associate's degree from Ivy Tech. She was a bookkeeper, retiring after 15 years with Chesterton State Bank. Eleanor was a Christian who was a member of the Methodist faith. She was a member of the DAR, Miriam Benedict Chapter, was an avid seamstress, and enjoyed horticulture and her plants. A history buff, it was important to her to keep up with the family genealogy. For fun, Eleanor loved hunting for finds at garage sales, shopping her favorite cable jewelry channel, collecting gemstones, and watching PBS documentaries. Her passion, though, was her family, whom she adored and loved with all her heart. Eleanor is survived by daughters, Susan G Knight, Tina E (David) Hunt; son, David C Knight; sister, Anita D Phillips, and two grandchildren, Martina Smith and Marcus Niemann, two great-grandchildren, Behr and Matthew, nephew Eric, niece Leslie, three grand-nieces, and four great-grand nieces and nephews.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herschel Knight; daughter, Nancy Niemann; brother Leonard Bacon; and a niece.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN, where the family will receive friends on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. for a visitation, followed by a memorial service. Cremation has been selected.
