Alpha Mae Ferrell Kiner Williams was born June 14, 1937 in Pulaski, Illinois, the daughter of Paul Ferrell, Sr. and Evangelist Creasie Ingram.

She was the youngest of 6 children born to their union. Her oldest sister called her Baby and always vowed to watch over her. Her father passed at a young age. Her mother married, Mr. Charles Edward Moore, Sr. and to that union was born Charles Edward Moore, Jr. Alpha Mae refused to relinquish the title of Baby…so there were two babies in the family.

She and her siblings traveled with their mother, singing at various churches throughout Southern Illinois and Missouri. They were called “The Ferrell Children”. One of Alpha Mae’s fondest childhood memories was the “Church Tree”. When they unable get to church, they would gather around a big tree in the yard and have church. They had…a jumping, shouting time.

Alpha gave her life to Christ in 1963 and joined Hatchett Temple Church Of God In Christ where she worked faithfully under the leadership of Pastor Rommie Hatchett and State Mother Beulah Hatchett. She served faithfully for 19 years. She was active in the Sunday School Department, Young Women Christian Council, Church Choir, Purity Department, Home Foreign Missions, Sewing Circle, YPWW, and Church Nurses…doing all to the glory of God.

She later attended Zion Temple Church of God In Christ under the leadership of Elder Pastor Roger and Mother Lula Mae Kelly, where she continued to work for the lord. She added to mantel Missionary, Bible Study Teacher, and Mothers Board. After the passing of Elder Kelly, Alpha Mae served under the leadership Pastor Lula Mae Kelly and Overseer Bishop Donald Alfred of Pentecostal Cathedral Church Of God In Christ in South Bend, Indiana.

Mother Williams counseled many young people at church, and many came to her home for prayer and sought her wisdom. She always kept her bible near and was an astute bible teacher. She loved to clean, sew and spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed rides in the country and loved vanilla ice cream. She will be remembered for her cooking; fried gizzards, “The Alpha Burger”, peach cobbler and those sweet potato pies.

Donna Jean Teter

Mrs. Donna Jean Teter, 90, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on July 8, 2024 at Miller's Health and Rehab.

Donna was born on November 9, 1933 in La Porte, IN, to John and Doris (Glanders) Mayer.

On September 29, 1951 in La Porte, she married Thomas D. Teter, who preceded her in death.

Donna had many things that she enjoyed in her blessed life! She loved to walk, walking daily for many years at Kesling Park.

She loved to play bridge, partnering with her mother. Those close to Donna knew that the bridge team of Donna and Doris were unbeatable because they had the ability to read each other's facial expressions, knowing what cards the other held!

She was a talented artist. Every birthday card that she sent out had a drawing made out of love on it. Her love of art was only outdone by her love for her husband, as she forfeited a full art scholarship to marry her farmboy from Kansas at age 17!

Donna loved her family with a passion. Her family could always count on her to help "pick up the pieces" and encourage!

Outdoing her love for her family, was her love for God, talking with Him, praying for her family, and depending on Him to give her strength to meet every challenge. Donna is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior! She showed love, devotion, strength, loyalty, and faithfulness to all who met her.

Donna was a beautiful soul, precious in His eyes! Donna worked for many years as the co-owner of Teter Realty, TK & Associates, and Teter Tool & Die.

james Albert Burris

James Albert Burris, 92, was ushered into the arms of Jesus on July 5, 2024.

He has fought the good fight and he has finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8.

James was born on January 4, 1932 to Mariam Mabel (Wire) Burris and Dr. Floyd Laverne Burris and grew up in Michigan City, IN.

He had one brother, Stuart (Maggie) Burris. James was a good man, honest and trustworthy, in all he did.

He was a man of integrity. He attended Elston High School in Michigan City where he was captain of the football team, Vice President of his graduating class, and King of the football dance. He was quiet but liked by everyone and had many good friends. James went on to graduate from Michigan State University. His family always said their family bled green and white, and they were so proud to be Spartans at heart.

After graduation, he served his country as a Sergeant during the Korean War. He was proud of his service in the United States Army. He loved America!

On October 25, 1958, he married Donna Elaine Steepro of Michigan City. They had three children, Thomas Albert (Renee) Burris, Daniel Stuart (Leah, who passed away in 2016) Burris, and Amy Elaine Burris.

James was blessed with five grandchildren, Amanda Burris, Andrea (Tim) Prikkel, Annie (Jake) Smith, Max Burris, and Hazel Burris; and three great-grandchildren, Jonah, Harmony, and Tommy James Lee Prikkel. He may not have always expressed it, but he loved each one and they brought him such joy.

He worked for Shell Oil in Indianapolis before returning home to La Porte to own and operate Longs Dairy. James was the most trusted milkman in La Porte and had keys to countless homes. He really enjoyed his job and the people he met. The family recalls stories of how he arranged the refrigerators in many homes and even helped hang draperies for someone.

Pamela Sue Angeledes

Pamela Sue Angeledes (Cain) was born on January 3, 1960 in La Porte, Indiana.

Her loving parents Edgar and Rose Cain of La Porte, welcomed her with open arms and outpouring love.

Pam lived a blessed, adventurous, loving 64 years. She was called home July 8, 2024 at Hamilton Grove, New Carlisle, Indiana.

Pam was the sweetest soul one could ever meet. She was a loving mother, grandmother (Nannie/Nana), great grandmother, and truly a one-of-a-kind friend to so many.

Pam welcomed three blessings into her life, her children, Jason Unger of La Porte, Dana Angeledes of La Porte, and Nichole Jones (Adam Jones) of La Porte. Being a mother was Pam’s true passion in life. Raising her children to be the strong, independent, loving adults that they are today, was one of Pam’s greatest accomplishments.

Pam was blessed with six grandchildren, Damielle Unger, Bradley Unger, Cody Unger, Haylee Unger, Abigail Kuta, and MaKenzyi Jones. As well, she was blessed with four great-grandchildren.

Pam’s heart and soul was as loving as they come. Her warm heart greeted so many for years at her former employer JJ’s Liquor Store, of La Porte.

Among many wonderful people that she called “friends”, she was blessed with some lifelong ones. Teri Bilderback-Stockstill, Michelle Towle (Bernice), Daniel Arthur, Lora Logan, the late, Sherri Pennington and the late John Becker, among so many others. The fond memories will last forever in our hearts as we all were the blessed ones with knowing Pam.

Music, Pam’s love and passion for music was never a secret. From classic rock and roll played on vinyl records, to country, to current pop, Pam knew and loved it all. Often hearing the words, “who sings it” would always be a short saying from her. She paired her love of music with playing cards, Euchre was her top pick.

Pam’s passing is a loss to so many people, however, Pam would want us to be reminded that she is with her savior. Our heavenly father. Pam would want our tears to turn to smiles and laughter as we would share all the fond memories of her blessed life.

Pam has shared 64 wonderful, beautiful, adventurous-filled years with us. Although we feel her time was cut short, Pam lived one hell of a good life. So remember, Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear.
