Carol Ann Applegarth

Carol Ann Applegarth, 86, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Residence at Coffee Creek.

Carol was born on December 25, 1937 in La Porte, IN, to Merlin and Fern (Kemp) Porter. She married Leo William Applegarth, who survives.

Also surviving are her 3 children, William G. (Renee) Applegarth of La Porte, David J. (Debbie) Applegarth of La Porte, and Elizabeth A. (Louis) Voelker of La Porte; grandchildren, Jacob A. (Joyce) Applegarth, Eli W. (Ashley) Voelker, Madeline J. (Thomas) Byvoets, Nicholas G. (Kassidy) Applegarth, Isabella R. Applegarth, David J. (Megan) Applegarth, Margaret V. Applegarth, and Anna Olivia Voelker; 1 great-grandchild, Juliette Applegarth; brother, Donald (Joanie) Porter; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Carol obtained her undergraduate degree in education from Purdue University, where she was a Soprano soloist, performing often with the Purdue University Glee Club. She earned her master's degree from Indiana University. She had been a member of Tri-Kappa and Door Village Methodist Church.

Carol enjoyed volunteering at her children's elementary school as a librarian. She was an avid and extremely dangerous bridge player.

Most importantly, Carol's greatest joy was her family.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A private family service will take place at a later date.
