David Chlebowski, known for his dedication to his family passed away unexpectedly on July 5,2024, at Northwest Health-La Porte.

Born on July 4, 1942, in La Porte, IN, David lived a life full of love, kindness, and memorable experiences.

In his professional journey, David was self-employed for many years before transitioning to a role in maintenance with MAYES Management. His work ethic and commitment were commendable, leaving a positive impact wherever he went.

A proud Marine, David served his country with honor and integrity. Beyond his military service, he found joy in various hobbies and interests.

He cherished moments spent with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. David's passion for fishing took him to Ohio and Wisconsin on unforgettable adventures.

He also had a love for car racing at the South Bend Raceway and the iconic Indianapolis 500 Speedway. Tending to his yard brought him immense pride as he admired its beauty. Additionally, he indulged in singing karaoke and was once part of a barbershop quartet. A connoisseur of Mexican cuisine, Hacienda held a special place in his heart as his favorite restaurant.

David was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Allene Chlebowski, brother Stanley Chlebowski, and sister Betty.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Donna; daughter Deborah (Joseph) West; sisters Beverly Johnson, Terry (Harold) Peterson, Sharon (Bob- deceased) Nell; grandson Brandon Owen West; granddaughter Brittani West; along with other relatives and friends who will deeply miss him.

The visitation for David Chlebowski will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home Inc in La Porte on July 12 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.

The burial service will take place at Patton Cemetery in Indiana from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM on the same day where Military Honors will be presented. In honoring the life of David Chlebowski, let us remember him for his willingness to help others, kind spirit, and unwavering love for his family. May his legacy continue to inspire kindness and compassion in all who knew him.
