Hildegard Hanna Backer

Hildegard Hanna Backer, 85, of La Porte, IN, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024, at Miller's Health and Rehab.

Hildegard was born in Chicago, IL, on May 25, 1939 to Alfred and Herta (Stern) Reising.

Surviving Hildegard are her son, Phillip Backer of DesPlaines, IL; sister, Edith Schaefer of Wheatland, WI; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Gertrude Bikneris; and nephew, Ronald Brauchler. Hildegard was a research librarian for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of North Liberty.

Hildegard enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, and watching nature.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. (EST) on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at First Baptist Church of North Liberty with Pastor Wayne Joyner officiating.

A time of visitation will be held from 10 a.m. (EST) until the time of service on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Baptist Church of North Liberty, 407 Elm St., North Liberty, IN 46554.
