ABC News

Polls closed in New Hampshire Tuesday, where voters cast ballots in a major Senate race, a gubernatorial race and key U.S. House races in the 2026 midterm elections.

U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas, a Democrat, is the projected winner in the Senate race, making him the first openly gay man elected to the Senate.

He was facing former Sen. John Sununu, a Republican, for the seat held by retiring Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen. Sununu is the brother of popular former Gov. Chris Sununu.

Incumbent Gov. Kelly Ayotte, a Republican, is running for reelection against Democratic candidate Cinde Warmington.
