(La Porte County, IN) - Early voting in La Porte County is now over, ending at noon today.
La Porte County Clerk Heather Stevens said the early voting numbers were approaching 14,000 about one hour before the end of early voting. She said 6,177 people had voted early at the La Porte County Fairgrounds since early voting began on October 6.
Another 5,532 early votes had been cast in Michigan City at 8th and Wabash streets. Stevens said the number of early votes cast at Wanatah Town Hall was 768 while 596 people voted early at the Wills Township Community Building.
704 votes were cast in the mobile voting unit.
The early voting totals in La Porte County are short of the presidential election totals from two years ago, which were over 23,000, Stevens said.
The polls on Election Day Tuesday are open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
