(La Porte County, IN) - La Porte County Police are investigating a package of marijuana delivered to a doctor’s office in the Michigan City area.

Police said the red, white and blue package was from a marijuana dispensary in California.

Officers on Thursday were called to the medical facility on County Road 400 North because of a strong odor of marijuana coming from the package delivered by the United States Postal service.

Police said nearly two ounces of marijuana were discovered inside the package when it was opened under a search warrant.   Investigators are looking into the possibility an employee at the doctor’s office may have ordered the marijuana, which remains illegal in Indiana.
