(Michigan City, IN) - A man has been found guilty of a shooting death in Michigan City.
Lamar Friend, 45, was convicted of murder by a jury Friday night in La Porte Superior Court 1.
Prosecutors say he ran up to the victim, Leland Collins and shot him multiple times in the parking lot of a liquor store on Michigan Boulevard in August of 2022. According to authorities, he was identified from a surveillance video of the killing and later a search warrant was executed at his home on Weller Ave. in La Porte.
Sentencing is scheduled November 19. He could receive anywhere from a 45 to 65 year sentence.
