A Chicago area man has posted bond after his arrest for allegedly selling fentanyl in Michigan City.
Johnathan Turner of Calumet Park, Illinois is charged in La Porte Superior Court 1 with dealing in a narcotic drug, a Level 2 felony.
Police said over 50 grams of fentanyl was confiscated while he was being taken into custody. The arrest stemmed from an ongoing investigation that began several months ago by the La Porte County Drug Task Force.
Michigan City Police Chief Steve Forker said the arrest should send a clear message that “if you bring fentanyl into this community, we will find you, we will build the case and we will hold you accountable.”
Forker went on to encourage people struggling with addiction to get help.
According to court records, Turner posted bail after his bond was reduced from $50,000 to $25,000. He could face anywhere from a 10 to 30 year sentence.
