(Chesterton, IN) - The South Shore Line will soon launch a new program for children and families taking the train.
'Kit the Fox & Friends” will begin October 16.
Railroad officials said the character-driven initiative aims to make travel more engaging and enjoyable for children, while also promoting important child-centric safety campaigns and natural habitat education featuring animals native to the area.
Features of the Kit the Fox & Friends Program:
- Interactive QR Codes: Kit the Fox QR codes will be available on train cars and in stations. Once scanned, these codes will direct children to a dedicated webpage where they can download, read, and color the Kit the Fox & Friends story, as well as access Kit & Friends coloring pages.
- Kit Passport: Kids can download their Kit Passports to take on their train journeys. Conductors will hole punch the passport during each ride. After collecting four stamps, children can upload their completed passports to the website to receive a plush Kit the Fox stuffed animal, shipped straight to their home.
- Educational Fun: The program aims to educate children about train travel, safety, and the natural habitats of local wildlife, fostering a sense of curiosity and care.
- Giveaways: Once kids have earned their Kit, parents can post pictures of their child and Kit riding the South Shore Line on social media and be entered for a chance to win free tickets to ride the South Shore Line.
"Our goal is to make every journey fun and educational for kids while providing peace of mind for parents with our ongoing safety campaigns. We look forward to welcoming families on board and seeing the joy this program brings to our community," said Nicole Barker, South Shore Line Chief Experience and Engagement Officer
