(La Porte County, IN) - Police say a driver was extremely impaired when his pick-up truck collided with a tree in La Porte County.

 

Brian McDaniels, 55, was booked into the La Porte County Jail for operating while intoxicated and possession of cocaine.

 

According to La Porte County Police, his 2026 Dodge Ram struck the tree Friday night in the area of 200 East and 300 South.  After the crash, police said McDaniels made his way into a nearby corn field where he was found by responding officers lying down and unable to walk or stand.

 

His alleged blood alcohol level was more than four times the legal limit. 

 

Police said a plastic bag containing cocaine was also found in one of his pockets. According to police, the man told officers he was heading back home from a bar in La Porte at the time of the crash.
