(La Porte County, IN) - A La Porte County high school student was arrested this morning on gun and drug related counts.
Nayden Thornton, 18, of Union Mills was booked into the La Porte County Jail on charges of possession of a firearm on school property, a Level 6 felony; possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor and possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor.
According to La Porte County Police, a sheriff’s deputy about 8:30 a.m. responded to South Central School on a report of suspicious behavior and activity of a student. The deputy met with school officials in the rear parking lot where information was exchanged.
A firearm was found inside the student’s vehicle. Thornton was being held on $755 cash only bond. Further details were not provided.
