(La Porte, IN) - A contractor hired by the state began cutting down trees and limbs today posing a safety risk in La Porte.

 

The trees and limbs posing a hazard are the ones damaged in the August 11 high wind storm that caused over 1,000 trees to come down in the city.

The contractor is Synergy Disaster Recovery, a national disaster debris removal firm with experience in cleaning up after weather extremes like floods, hurricanes and wildfires.  SDR is also removing storm debris left on the public right of ways along the streets.

 

Tracy Doyle of SDR said the trees and limbs cut down will be placed along public right of ways for pick-up later.

 

“It will be left there for the future of debris removal operations,” she said.

 

The contractor’s trucks are marked SDR for residents wondering about the presence of those vehicles in their neighborhoods.
