(La Porte County, IN) - The fall 7-in-1 household hazardous waste collection scheduled to take place out at the fairgrounds on Saturday has been cancelled due to inclement weather. With no shelter available and thunderstorms likely throughout the day, organizers said safety became an overriding concern.

In a statement Friday, Solid Waste District Executive Director Robin Havens said they are working to reschedule the event with the recycling vendors who participate and will let the public know when that happens.

In the meantime, Styrofoam and electronics can be dropped off at the compost site at 724 Zigler Road Monday through Saturday between 8 am and 4 pm.
