(La Porte, IN) - There will be no ice skating in downtown La Porte this winter.

The park board has decided not to set up the refrigerated rink due to higher utility costs and other limitations such as staffing.

Officials are inviting the public to share their ideas on what to do with the space the rink has been at since making its debut at State and Monroe streets a few years ago.
