(La Porte, IN) - Several teenagers were injured in a bad single vehicle collision last night in La Porte.

 

It happened about 10:30 p.m. on J St. at the curve with Lincolnway.

 

Police said the vehicle left the road and struck a brick support pillar at the Smoke Shop, causing extensive front end damage to the 2019 Kia. 

 

Two of the teenagers taken by ambulance were later transferred to a hospital in South Bend.  One had a broken leg.  The other had injuries to the mid-section.  At least two other juveniles were taken to Northwest Health.

 

The driver, 18 year old Miguel Garcia-Farias, was arrested for underage drinking.

 

He was not legally impaired, police said. 

 

According to police, there were seven passengers in the vehicle, which has room to seat only five people.
