(La Porte County, IN) - A suspected drunk driver had his daughter in the car with him while veering over the center line of a La Porte County highway multiple times.
That’s according to the allegations behind an operating while intoxicated charge filed in La Porte Circuit Court against Kenneth Williams.
According to the charging information, a La Porte County Sheriff’s deputy responding to a report of a reckless driver on September 12 spotted Williams on U.S. 20 near Fail Road.
After catching up to the vehicle, police said the officer witnessed the Valparaiso man veer completely over the center line of the four lane stretch of highway three times before pulling him over.
His daughter in the front passenger seat climbed into the back seat as the officer approached the vehicle on foot. Police said Williams after getting out of the vehicle nearly fell multiple times. His alleged blood alcohol level was .146-percent.
According to authorities, the charge was upgraded from a misdemeanor to a Level 6 felony due to a juvenile riding with him while he was allegedly impaired.
