(La Porte County, IN) - A man on a motorcycle is facing allegations that he fled from a La Porte County Police officer at high speeds.

Jacob Barnes, 28, of Valparaiso is charged in La Porte Circuit Court with Level 6 felony resisting law enforcement.

Police said the officer on Sunday spotted a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed from U.S. 421 to U.S. 6.  He caught up to the vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop but the motorcycle accelerated to 90 miles per hour and continued on into Porter County.

Eventually, police said the officer was able to stop the driver after he slowed down for slower moving traffic in front of him.  Barnes was also ticketed for speeding and not having a vehicle registration.
