(La Porte, IN) - A La Porte man is facing drug charges after pulled over for traveling with a bad headlight on his vehicle.
Daniel Bernacchi, 60, is charged in La Porte Circuit Court with Level 6 felony possession of cocaine and Class A misdemeanor possession of a schedule 1 controlled substance.
According to the charging information, a La Porte Police officer on September 3 stopped Bernacchi about 11 p.m. for having a bad headlight in the area of Lincolnway and Teegarden St.
Police said there was a fresh odor of marijuana detected in the vehicle before one gram of cocaine and 45.5 grams of psilocybin mushrooms were recovered in plastic baggies on the driver’s side floorboard.
Bernacchi was still being held in the La Porte County Jail without bond.
