(Lake County, IN) - A truck driver was seriously injured this morning when he struck the back end of a stopped semi-truck on Interstate 80-94 in Gary.
According to state police, Garbiel Corral, 31, of Chicago was ejected from the cab of his truck. Police said he hit the rear of a tractor-trailer hauling Amazon packages that was stopped between an exit ramp and travel lanes of the interstate.
The driver hauling the packages, Ahmed Taher Hussein Al Subari of Dearborn, Michigan, was reportedly standing outside his truck urinating when Corral struck his rig, police said.
He was not injured.
The eastbound lanes were restricted for about eight hours to allow for the crash to be investigated and cleaned-up. Police said criminal charges are a possibility depending on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
