(La Porte, IN) - A child on an electric bicycle was taken to the hospital Friday after struck by a motor vehicle in La Porte.

 

The accident happened about 3 p.m.

 

According to La Porte Police, the driver of a car told investigators he pulled out of the back parking lot at La Porte High School and began heading northbound on F St.

 

The driver said the collision happened when the eastbound electric bicycle attempted to cross the road without using the cross walk, according to police.

 

Police said a statement was not able to be obtained immediately from the child because of the juvenile being transported to the hospital for treatment.
