Opposite Lane Driver Arrested for OWI

(La Porte County, IN) - A La Porte County Police officer had to take evasive action overnight to avoid a head-on collision with a driver taken into custody again for being impaired.

Michelle Lorah, 37, of La Porte was booked into the La Porte County Jail on Level 6 felony operating while intoxicated.

Police said she was stopped by an officer who had to maneuver to his right to avoid a head-on collision with the oncoming Lorah, who was mostly in the opposite lane of travel on U.S. 35 near the Indiana Toll Road.

She returned to the correct lane momentarily before veering again over the center line, police said.  Her alleged blood alcohol level was .122-percent.

According to authorities, the charge was upgraded to a felony due to her having a prior OWI conviction from 2021.
