(Porter County, IN) - A Michigan City man was killed by a fallen tree.

Emergency responders just before 2 p.m. Wednesday were called to the 200 block of Furnessville Road just north of U.S. 20 about seven miles west of Michigan City.

Porter County Police said Marco Katic, 65, had his head pinned underneath a large fallen tree.  A man with a chainsaw discovered Katic and sought the help of three men nearby who came over and tried lifting the tree off the man without success.

The Hispanic man who found Katic was trying to cut a small piece off the tree but fled when one of the other men called 911.  Katic was pronounced dead at the scene.
