(Michigan City, IN) - Nobody was injured but cats were rescued from a house fire in Michigan City yesterday.

 

This happened on Hillcrest Road just before 5 p.m. 

 

Michigan City Fire Department spokesperson Tia Eckwood said the fire started in the kitchen, resulting in heavy smoke and fire damage.

 

Nobody was home at the time.

 

Eckwood said three cats were rescued and one had to be revived.  The cats were taken to an animal hospital for further care.  So far, no light has been shed on the cause of the fire, which was on the city’s southeast side.
