(La Porte, IN) - A man could face deportation after arrested in La Porte for drunk driving.

 

Augustin Magana, 38, was being held in the La Porte County Jail on charges that include operating while intoxicated.

 

La Porte County Police said Magana on July 19 was stopped for failing to use a turn signal at Lincolnway and Rose St. and straddling the center line while traveling. Police said he put up a struggle during his arrest and one of the officers was hurt as a result with pain and swelling along with bruising to his hand and wrist.

 

Magana allegedly revealed he’s been in the U.S. illegally for over 20 years.

 

Police said his blood alcohol level was over three times the legal limit.  Magana was also being held for federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for possible deportation.
