(La Porte County, IN) - Some modern-day pioneers had to do without electricity for a while yesterday at the La Porte County Fair.
A power outage in 90 degree heat impacted Pioneer Land along with several food and beverage vendors.
Pioneer Land Manager Darla Quinn said there are fans running in the 1800’s- like village during the fair to help volunteers working the buildings stay cool. The fans along with an air conditioner in the Quilt Cabin quit running until power was restored about two hours later.
“It got hot fast,” she said.
It appears a problem with a transformer caused the temporary outage.
