(La Porte, IN) - A La Porte man convicted of causing a fatal alcohol related motor vehicle collision several years ago is charged with being impaired in a recent crash.
Eric Adair, 29, is charged in La Porte Circuit Court with Level 5 felony operating while intoxicated.
Police said Adair on Sunday hit a parked car in the 300 block of Rockwood St. The impact caused his Dodge Durango to roll onto its roof. Police said a responding officer spotted Adair walking away from the crash site while carrying multiple items in his hands.
He was taken to the La Porte County Jail with an alleged blood alcohol level of .22-percent.
According to court records, Adair was given a six-year prison sentence in 2022 for Level 4 felony operating while intoxicated causing death.
Police said Adair crossed the center line on U.S. 35 north of La Porte and struck a vehicle driven by Nathan Blunt head-on. The 32 year old Blunt later succumbed to his injuries.
Adair could face anywhere from a one to six year sentence.
