(La Porte County, IN) - Over a 24-hour period earlier this week, La Porte County Sheriff’s deputies stopped three reckless drivers near Rolling Prairie.

On Sunday evening around dusk, an officer on State Road 2 near Lofgren Rd. clocked a 52-year old Hudson Lake area man driving a BMW SUV in excess of 100 mph.

On Monday evening, a 2026 Ram 1500 pickup on US 20 near Rolling Prairie was doing 85 in a 45 mph zone and passing cars in between construction cones, police said. The 44-year-old male driver was cited for reckless driving.

A few minutes later and just down the road, the same Sheriff’s deputy clocked a 2024 Ducati 950 motorcycle doing 108 in a 45 mph zone near Oak Knoll Rd. The rider was a 53-year-old New Carlisle man, who, according to police, was also carrying a Glock 19 pistol in his backpack.
