(La Porte County, IN) – A man was killed in a head-on collision in downtown Wanatah over the weekend. It happened around 10:20 pm Saturday night in the 200 south block of Main Street in Wanatah.

According to the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, a green 1998 Mazda pickup truck, being driven by 43-year-old Allyn T. Brown of Wanatah, was traveling northbound on Main at a high rate of speed and left of the center line. The Mazda collided with an oncoming maroon 2016 GMC pickup truck driven by 65-year-old David L. Bailey, also of Wanatah.

Bailey’s truck, after being struck, crashed into a nearby residence, police said. He and an adult passenger were treated for minor injuries at the scene. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say alcohol is a factor in the crash.  Toxicology test results are pending, as authorities continue to investigate.
