(La Porte, IN) - A man involved in a motor vehicle collision in La Porte is facing more allegations of being impaired.
Thomas Meisner is charged in La Porte Circuit Court with operating while intoxicated.
According to the charging information, Meisner on June 20 wound up in a field after colliding with another vehicle at E. Jefferson Ave. and Boyd Boulevard. Meisner was found slumped over the wheel and later told paramedics he drank six beers and three shots, police said.
His alleged blood alcohol level was .301-percent or nearly four times the legal limit.
Police said the other driver was conscious and alert at the scene. The charge was upgraded from a misdemeanor to a Level 6 felony because of Meisner having a prior OWI conviction out of Porter County in January.
