(La Porte County, IN) - La Porte County Police say a driver was arrested for being impaired following a two-vehicle collision over the weekend.

April Wangstrom, 54, is charged with Class A misdemeanor operating while intoxicated.

Police said Wangstrom was behind the wheel of a GMC Yukon that struck a car at 725 West and 300 North at about 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.  It appears Wangstrom, who lives in that area, pulled out from a stop sign and began turning left when struck by the oncoming driver, who slammed on his brakes to avoid a collision, police said.

There were no injuries but each of the vehicles sustained damage.  Her alleged blood alcohol level was .144-percent.
