(La Porte County, IN) - A man skateboarding was taken by ambulance after wiping out on a La Porte County road.

La Porte County Police said the 37 year old man told investigators he grabbed the skateboard after his vehicle ran out of gas in the area of 1000 North and 500 East.

The man, Anthony Hultgren, said he was westbound on 1000 North when one of the wheels on his skateboard hit a rock, causing him to fall, according to police.  He was walking and covered in blood when a relative passing by stopped and gave him a ride then called for an ambulance.

Police said Hultgren complained of a possible broken finger and had swelling near his left eye.  He was taken to a nearby hospital.
