(La Porte, IN) - A man stopped for speeding in La Porte could get some jail time for allegedly having dispensary marijuana.

Jonte Timmons is charged in La Porte Circuit Court with dealing in marijuana, a Level 6 felony.

Police said he was stopped Monday on Pine Lake Ave. after clocked at 18 miles per hour above the posted 35 mph speed limit.  According to police, an odor of marijuana resulted in over 40 grams of marijuana being seized from the vehicle. 

Police said the marijuana was inside a dispensary bag and a half dozen zip-lock bags. Timmons, who’s from Illinois, was also cited for speeding and driving on a suspended license.
