(Michigan City, IN) - A social media video of a man firing a gun illegally converted into an automatic weapon resulted in his arrest in Michigan City.

 

Raheem Carter, 22, of Michigan City is charged in La Porte Superior Court 1 with Level 4 felony operating a loaded machine gun and Level 5 felony possession of a machine gun.

 

According to court documents, police on May 14 were made aware of the video and recognized Carter as the gunman firing several automatic rounds after stepping out of a vehicle. 

 

Police said Carter was in the same vehicle when taken into custody during a traffic stop.  He was in possession of the converted handgun, which was removed from inside the front of his pants, police said.

 

Carter could face anywhere from a two to 12 year sentence on the most serious counts.
