(La Porte County, IN) - A woman was taken by medical helicopter after a tree fell on her moving vehicle outside La Porte this morning.

This happened on Fail Road between Indiana 2 and U.S. 20.  La Porte County Police said she was driving when the good sized tree fell.  La Porte County Commissioner Steve Holifield said he was notified by the highway department which assisted in removing the tree from the vehicle.

“They needed equipment to help get the tree off the car.  She was pretty much pinned in the car.  My prayers and wishes go out to her and her family that she recovers well,” he said.  Theres is no word on the driver’s condition.  We’ll provide further details once they become available.
