(La Porte County, IN) - The La Porte County Sheriff’s Office was among the law enforcement agencies from 12 states trying to make U.S. 20 a bit safer last week.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies wrote 22 citations and 35 warnings during the mid-morning and mid-afternoon hours in the U.S. 20 multi-state traffic safety project on May 13. Police said the sheriff’s office was included in the effort due to the high volume of crashes on U.S. 20 in La Porte County.
According to police, all of the participating law enforcement agencies issued a total of 415 citations and 211 warnings to motorists.
“Deputies will continue to have a presence along U.S. 20 especially in the construction zone. Motorists are encouraged to slow down, drive distraction-free and adhere to all traffic control devices,” said La Porte County Police Capt. Derek Allen.
