(Lake County, IN) - Three children were killed in an early morning motor vehicle crash in Lake County.

 

State Police say the children were in an SUV that hit at high speeds the back of a semi-tractor trailer parked on the shoulder of Interstate 65 near Gary.    A fourth child was severely injured and flown to a Chicago hospital.

 

Police say the driver, Renee Foster, 31, of Gary was still hospitalized with upper body injuries.  The semi driver was not hurt.

 

According to police, alcohol consumption is believed to be a factor in the collision.  Neglect of a dependent charges are among the counts being considered by prosecutors.
