(La Porte County, IN) - A man was killed in a Thursday evening motorcycle crash in La Porte County.

Eddie Smith, 69, of North Judson was southbound on Indiana 39 on his 1993 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he veered over the center line near 950 South, according to La Porte County Police.

Police said Smith wound up going across the northbound lane and off the east side of the highway.  He was ejected from the motorcycle during the crash.  Smith was transported to an area hospital whwere he later succumbed to his injuries. 

Police said alcohol was a factor in the accident, which happened before 6:30 p.m.  Further details were not released.
