(The Pines, IN) - The La Porte County Coroner's Office has identified the 17-year-old victim in a deadly after-prom party shooting.

 

Javon Townsend, a junior at Michigan City High School, was shot three times and later died at the hospital.

 

La Porte County Coroner Lynn Swanson said an autopsy Monday revealed Townsend was shot in the chest, left leg and right ankle.

 

The gunfire erupted late Saturday night at a home in the 1700 block of Liberty Avenue in The Pines just outside Michigan City.  Two other teens were injured in the shooting.

 

So far, no arrests have been reported.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Porter County Sheriff’s Office.

 

Since Townsend died at Franciscan Health outside Michigan City, the La Porte County Coroner's Office was in charge of the death portion of the ongoing investigation.
