(La Porte County, IN) - Gas is now almost $5 a gallon at some filling stations in La Porte and the surrounding area.

According to GasBuddy.com, gas this morning was $4.99 a gallon at some of the Family Express locations, Speedway, Amoco and Conoco.  Prices were as low as $4.23 a gallon at Kroger..

In the Michigan City area, the highest gas prices were $4.79 a gallon at several locations while the lowest price at $4.03 a gallon was at the BP station in the 1200 block of Franklin St.

The war in Iran is blamed for the rising prices.
