Threats with Rifle During Bonfire

(La Porte County, IN) - A La Porte County man was arrested for allegedly threatening a neighbor with a firearm.

This happened Saturday night during a gathering for a bonfire in the 2500 block of E. 500 South.  Donald Tharp, 55, was booked into the La Porte County Jail for Level 5 felony intimidation with a deadly weapon.

Tharp allegedly came out of his home complaining several times about the gathering.  The last time he came out, police said he had a rifle and threatened his neighbor and a second person.

Upon arrival, police said officers tried making contact with Tharp but he would not respond.  Eventually, officers forced their way in and took him into custody.

Police said the rifle was recovered from the suspect’s residence.
