(La Porte, IN) - Residents are invited to enjoy breakfast with their local firefighters while supporting a good cause.
The City of La Porte Fire Department will host their annual pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on May 2 at Fire Station 3 at 710 Daytona St. Tickets include all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage and eggs, as well as an entry into their $100 cash giveaway.
Fire Chief Andy Snyder said the department will also be selling $1 raffle tickets for a wide variety of prizes donated by local businesses, including memberships, gift baskets and the chance to be “Firefighter for the Day.”
All proceeds from both the breakfast and raffle will benefit the Arnold J. Devereaux Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships for eight to ten graduating seniors from local high schools each year.
“The pancake breakfast has become one of our favorite days of the year. “Not only do we get the opportunity to engage with our community over a shared meal, but we do so for the benefit of a cause that our team holds dear. We look forward to yet another successful event.” he said.
Devereaux, 37, was a La Porte firefighter off duty when electrocuted while giving CPR to a man also electrocuted after his truck made contact with a power line at a job site in 1980. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Tickets for the breakfast are $10 and can be purchased in advance at Station 1 at 809 W 18th St. Tickets can also be purchased at the door on the day of the event. Children ages 4 and under eat free. For more information, call (219) 362-3456.
