(Michigan City, IN) - A convicted sex offender from Michigan City has been found guilty of assaulting a 14 year old girl.

 

A La Porte Superior Court 1 jury Thursday convicted 62 year old Randy Hurt on three counts after about two hours of deliberation.

 

 

 

About a year and a half ago, authorities said Hurt was a passenger in a motor vehicle in Michigan City when he climbed into the back seat with the girl and assaulted her.  The girl told investigators she kept pushing him off but, eventually, she was not able to.

 

The girl was at school two days later when she reported the incident.  Hurt could face anywhere from a three to sixteen year sentence on the most serious count.  A sentencing date has not been set.
