(La Porte County, IN) - An interim executive director has been appointed for the La Porte County Solid Waste District.

 

Robin Havens, office manager at the district for the last six years, will serve as director until there’s a permanent replacement.

 

Clay Turner has been executive director since 2006.  He’s retiring effective April 3.

 

Turner was also a city councilman in La Porte from 1984-1995, a La Porte County Commissioner from 1997-2004 and served on the city’s Board of Public Works and Safety under three different mayors.

 

Havens has worked closely with Turner on things like payroll, human resources and contracts dealing with recycling.  It could take several months to name a replacement, officials said.
