Huge Fun Center Closer to Reality

(La Porte, IN) - Plans for a large family fun center in La Porte have taken another step forward.

Last night, the La Porte Redevelopment Commission voted to go out for bids on work related to the environmental clean-up that’s occurred on the property at New Porte Landing.

Bert Cook, Executive Director of the La Porte Economic Advancement Partnership, said the project involves grading the dirt in a way that prevents disturbing the remaining underground contaminants during construction.

“I understand it’s building up from the ground as opposed to digging down as an environmental remediation technique,” he said.

New Porte Landing is a former longtime industrial site that’s been cleaned up enough to redevelop.

Cook said he expects construction of the over 30,000 square foot facility to begin sometime in the coming months.  Plans call for the facility to contain 100 arcade games, 40 pinball machines, 12 bowling lanes, outdoor and indoor miniature golf, a laser tag course and other amenities like virtual darts.  A restaurant/bar inside the building is also proposed.
