(La Porte County, IN) - A man was found dead inside his La Porte area home full of smoke.

La Porte County Police along with firefighters on Friday responded to the area of U.S. 20 and Wilhelm Road in Springfield Township.  Police said a man who takes care of his 82 year old father returned to find the home full of smoke.

He called 911 after being unable to go inside due to the smoke heavy enough to make breathing difficult.  Police said emergency responders found the man deceased on the livingroom floor.

According to police, one of the possibilities is the man died from natural causes while smoking a pipe that could have caught his chair on fire.  The case remains under investigation.
