(La Porte, IN) – Streets near two La Porte lakes will be closed temporarily for construction projects.
Two streets near Stone Lake in La Porte will be closed starting Tuesday, March 24. Central Ave. will be closed from Weller Ave. to Lake St., and Lake St. will be closed from Central Ave. to Hawthorne St. Area businesses will still be accessible.
The closure will last approximately one month and will allow crews to lay the raw water supply line for the Soldiers Memorial Well Field project.
Two other closures will take place south of Clear Lake beginning Monday, March 23rd. Washington St. will be closed from Linwood to Tipton, and Adams St. will be closed from State to Washington. Area businesses will still be accessible.
City officials say this will be the first of many area closures over the next several months as crews relocate utilities for the state's Tipton Street Overpass project.
