(La Porte, IN) - A familiar face in the La Porte School Corporation is leaving for a similar position with another school corporation.

 

Ben Tonagel is becoming an assistant superintendent with the Duneland School Corporation.  Tonagel spent 13 years here as principal at La Porte High School then later assistant superintendent of elementary education and student learning.

 

Tonagel was a student and standout basketball player for the Slicers.  He was a member of the team that made it to the state semi-finals in 1997.  Tonagel called the time he spent here as a school administrator a “true privilege.”

 

“I am deeply grateful for the relationships built, the experiences shared and the opportunity to support continued growth and improvements in La Porte’s schools,” he said.

 

Schools Superintendent Dr. Sandra Wood said maintaining stability is the top priority until the open position is filled.
